Winter Weather Advisory across 81 Michigan counties: Sleet, freezing rain, ice to make travel hazardous
A mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow is creating dangerous travel conditions across Michigan this morning, with Winter Weather Advisories in effect for the entire state until this afternoon or evening. Untreated surfaces are slippery, and ice accumulations of one-tenth to two-tenths of an inch are expected in many areas.
Freezing rain will continue this evening and tonight across much of central New York. Temperatures are just below freezing in these areas, creating slippery roads.
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The National Weather Service has expanded a winter weather advisory to include Staten Island and the rest of the New York City area. The weather advisory warns of a chance of freezing rain until around 10 p.m. Sunday, with a “light glaze” of ice possibly to follow, according to the weather alert.
Icy conditions across the Flint area have led to some closures and cancellations on Friday, Dec. 26. Among the closures include all branches of the Genesee District Library as well as the Lapeer and Imlay City senior centers. No home delivered meals will take place from either senior center, according to ABC 12.
