A watch party is being held in Chicago's western suburbs as NASA prepares to send humans to the moon for the first time in 50 years on Wednesday.

Locals and visitors who came for the moon launch are jockeying for prime spots to see NASA's Artemis II mission lift off, with some resorting to extreme measures.

As Nasa prepares to launch its first crewed mission around the Moon in more than 50 years, a group of students have their own stellar plan to track the Artemis II mission from Armagh. The PhD students are based at the Armagh Observatory and Planetarium and so their watch party is a little different as it will involve state-of-the-art telescopes.

Senior NASA Test Director Jeff Spaulding said NASA’s goal is to “establish a presence” on the moon in the near future. The Artemis II mission is expected to launch Wednesday evening on a journey around the moon.
