They explored exciting career paths with Florida Army National Guard recruiters, connected with advisors from Miami Dade College and Florida International University, and heard from Jackson Health System’s Correctional Health Services. After 30 years of dedicated service, #MDCR bids a heartfelt farewell to Lieutenant Angeleatha Chestnut! Lieutenant Chestnut began her career with MDCR in 1995, graduating from COT Class 77. Over the years, she served in many capacities, including at our Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, Pre-Trial Detention Center, Security and Internal Affairs Bureau, and the Women’s Detention Center. Among her many roles, she cherished her time as a Lieutenant the most, as it gave her the opportunity

Holiday magic was in full swing at #MDCR’s seventh annual Shop with a Correctional Officer! 🛒🎁 Our Department partnered with Dade County Federal Credit Union and Walmart to take 15 children from Citrus Family Care Network on a holiday shopping spree. The kids had a blast filling their carts with gifts alongside our staff, Mr. and Mrs. Claus, and Miami Heat Dancers. #MDCR was proud to partner with the Hialeah Police Department and Hialeah Parks Department for our 3rd Annual “Stuff the Bus” Toy Drive! 🧸🎁 Thanks to the generosity of our incredible staff, we collected and donated toys to bring holiday cheer to children in our community at Milander Park.
